Each system for each floor..

1. Higher rated SEER rating, always purchase higher (means runs more efficiently, not maxing out the system)
2. Service maintenance program HIGHLY recommended.

No problems on my end with three systems. House is very comfortable and each thermostat is set for each level. House has ridge vents so hot air escapes in the attic.

If ventilation is the issue, then you need to make sure you have enough vents
