This years opening game is going to be a bit bittersweet.
This week started off exciting, Tuesday we were going to go find out the gender of our second child. Within the first couple minutes they tell us we are going to have our first boy. I immediately begin thinking of all the fun father son activities we will be able to do.

When the doctor came in to go over the ultrasound with us he started off by saying they saw some concerning things. To keep things short we needed to do an amniocentesis Wednesday to determine the extent of the problems. Friday we got the results and our baby boy has a rare chromosomal disorder in which if he survives the delivery, it gives him a life expectancy of a few hours.

The HCBW and I were talking yesterday and then I kind of broke down thinking that I'll never be able to share the experiences of BYU football with my son. I love BYU and that was one thing I was looking forward to doing. It's amazing how much you can care for someone you've never net. We decided to carry the pregnancy to term, if he lasts that long, so I'll be able to share some football with him in utero at least.

I'm kind of a closed off person and haven't really talked to a bunch of people about it. But it feels good to share it, even if it's with a bunch of anonymous cougarboarders.
