The only thing I question is that, to be honest, it was/is common for BYU
kids to get in trouble without bothering to drive all the way to Vegas.
I just don't know how plausible it is that somebody really thinks that driving to Vegas to get married first, only to get it annulled is really going to be worth it. If they have that little respect for the law of chastity, I imagine they would just go ahead without bothering with a 5 hour drive and all the trouble (and there is cost, too) of a "wedding" in Nevada.
Too dumb, I think.
