John Beck was the QB BYU was waiting for.
His idol growing up was Ty Detmer, and his first born was named Ty. He dressed up as Jim McMahon for Halloween. He served a mission. He was in the bishopric of my student ward his senior year. And he was really good at football.
Beck was everything we wanted in a QB, and he took the reigns of a program in serious trouble. His senior year, 2006, was arguably the best BYU team since 1996. IMO, he is a BYU Saint.
