Kershaw has faced more batters than any hitter has plate appearances.
He has faced 604 batters, more than the 601 plate appearances by Nick Markakis (tops in MLB).
The best argument to not give Kershaw (or any other dominant pitcher) the MVP is that they have their own award, the Cy Young. I don't always agree with that argument, but that's more compelling to me than the notion that a dominant hitter adds more value than a dominant pitcher.
