We went to El Azteca tonight. I hadn't been there in over a year and remembered thinking it was decent. It REALLY disappointed. Then I got thinking about it and realized that since the last time I went there I have 'discovered' Red Iguana up in SLC and it is now the barometer I measure all other Mex places by.
Other places I have tried and mostly enjoy include Maria Bonita (always jam-packed like the ice cream line at Macey's on Saturday night) and Mama Chus (?) out by the mouth of Provo Canyon. There was also a GREAT place in downtown Provo around 300 North - Diego's. Food was great and the owner was the kind who would come out and see if your food was okay and then shoot the breeze with you - often about BYU sports. It looked boarded-up tonight. Earlier this Summer, there was a sign in the door saying he was on vaca for a few weeks. Apparently it's permanent.
