Hypothetical regarding the HC I've always wondered about going on a few years
If you are a student and end up going to a party where there is drinking or smoking but you don't engage in any imbibing or puffing, etc. but you do see other students you know attend BYU who are drinking or smoking.

Party ends, you go home, etc.

A few days later you get a summons to the HC. Someone reported seeing you at a party where there was drinking and smoking. They ask you if you drank or smoked, etc. and you say no.

They ask you if you witnessed other BYU students drinking and smoking and you either tell them yes but refuse to inform them who or refuse to confirm the names of people who they ask were there drinking.

Being that someone else was claiming you were drinking but you didn't and you answered truthfully that you weren't, I'm assuming there would be zero repercussions for that student. You didn't break the HC in any way. You didn't lie, etc. you did refuse to rat on other students.

Am I correct that the HC office couldn't and wouldn't take any action? If that's not true, what would be the justification for taking action? What action would the HC take?
