My Speech Before the UT Game
This week's game is huge...no other way to say it. I lived in Texas for a while before moving overseas and have a lot of UT friends, I am a fan myself and love the city of Austin. We all know the stats on BYU v OU and UT...5-1. That's crazy. I was at the OU game in 2009, and 75k OU fans came away with a lot of respect for BYU and yes some thought it was just because we knocked Bradford out, but a lot of fans thought our "white Mormon boys" were flat out nasty. Last years game against UT was the obvious catalyst for the major changes that was coming to the Longhorn program. Despite our record against UT and how well we showed against them in 2011 at their place, we are viewed as a little ankle biter in their eyes and we got the best of their ankles last year. While many of my friends who are UT fans have shown a lot of respect to us since last season, I can promise you the players felt we got lucky and almost sucker punched them in a way. If I were Bronco, I would be full of piss and vinegar in the locker room, more so than in any game this season, especially after his comments about the B12 to the Austin Statesman this summer. That is very unlike Bronco, we need to back that talk up with a W.

In that locker room I would let them know in no uncertain terms that UT thought you were such an inferior opponent they had to fire their D coordinator literally before they got back on their private plane to Austin last year. They fired their head coach because of how you beat them last year. They view themselves (although somewhat justified) as the College Football king and we somehow lucked out. There is no better time with all of the conference shuffling and our fight to gain respect as an independent to go into DKR and back up that yewt whooping they got from us last year. Show them this was not luck, show them this was not a fluke because of the weather, show them in the words of Jamal Williams "we will make them bow to our will." Texas will be out for blood, they have been all off-season, that has been well documented, they will be better coached than last year, they will scheme for Taysom...blah blah blah blah...Guess what though, these are the same players that took the field against you last year. Go out there and remind them of that game last year from the first snap. They want blood and will get some, but you take more. Make no mistake about it, this game is huge for our national image. We will be on the national radar in an instant if we win this game and do it convincingly...do not act surprised to be ahead in this game, do not act surprised by the huge stadium, you have played there before. Act like you belong from the first snap and let them know it's going to be a blood bath. Remind David Ash what it was like to still be playing against our D in the fourth quarter...he lost the will and the ability to stay in that game last year, he was physically done...that's right, Mr Blue Chip UT QB was beat to a pulp last season just like Bradford was in 2009...do this again. And one word to the O line...UT's D will want to put Taysom on a stretcher...do not let that happen, send a message very early that he is your brother and you will die defending his ability to take his knee brace and run it down Texas' yewting throat...have his back at all times during the game.

Sorry guys, just had to get that off my chest. I'm beyond stoked. I want to see Max Hall's eye of the tiger in all of their eyes when he was running past us to the locker room in the 2009 OU game screaming they were going to win....he did not doubt and neither should the Cougs this year. Go give em Hell Brigham!!!

I'm not sure "bulletin-board" type motivation has worked well for Bronco coached (boogers, Aug 31, 2014 at 7:22pm)
