You are absolutely right -- and the Utes are institutional cheaters
Look for grabbing, holding, and whatever other methods the dbs can get away with. I really believe some defensive coaches teach that it is worth the risk of getting a 15 yard penalty for the benefit of controlling the passing and dictating the physicality of the game.

They absolutely do. The Utes are one of the worst offenders. Teams that do this figure that it will only get called a fraction of the time, and the benefits of consistently getting away with it outweigh the cost of the few penalties that will get called.

Some people call this smart football. I have a philosophical problem with coaching young men to cheat as part of a team strategy.
