When we barely lost at Texas in 2011, it was during Heap's terrible Soph year
He looked much better that game against Texas than he did against

Ole Miss 2-10
Utah 8-5
UCF 5-7
Utah St 7-6

Not exactly powerhouses, and Heaps really struggled during this block of time. We beat Ole Miss because of Van Noy, lost bad to Utah, beat UCF because of special teams, and beat Utah State by putting in Riley. Heaps was then replaced by Riley, who was much more efficient in the remaining games of the season.

I find it very interesting that the Texas game was so close that year even though we had such serious QB issues going on. Combine that with last year, and I can't help to wonder, or at least hope, that we tend to match up well against Texas. Heaps looked much better against Texas than he did those other games. Maybe it was just that we matched up well against their coaching at the time, who knows. But a part of me of cautiously optimistic about how we will do on Saturday.
