ESPN corporate vs ESPN analysts re: BYU
ESPN corporate is giving BYU plenty of opportunities to shine. The fact that we are on the UNO this week in the 3:30 EST spot speaks volumes about BYU's relationship with the mother ship. With that said, ESPN's college football analysts and commentators obviously don't share that respect and perhaps rightfully so. While Bronco and BYU have been racking up bowl wins, winning seasons and a few notable wins, BYU hasn't had the consistency to keep the national spotlight on Provo. In 2009, the year had so much promise and then we got spanked back to oblivion by a very average Florida State team. Later that year, another chance at redemption when also ended in very disappointing fashion. Early season losses have also been a problem. During the BCS era, BYU only started 3-0 twice (2001 & 2008) which immediately took BYU out of any BCS talk.

BYU needs to remain unbeaten as long as possible. No way does an undefeated BYU make it into the playoffs this year but the spotlight would be tremendous. And how do you snub BYU for both the playoff and one of the big bowl games if indeed they finish undefeated?

The real possibility for BYU is next season. Next year BYU definitely has a legit schedule (and plenty of returning starters) and one I would argue that compares favorably to Notre Dame's.
