national champion somehow more legit (I know, I know, it's really about money), then why is having 2 teams from the SEC even possible? Why make it possible for a team that did not win its own conference championship to win the national championship? It does not make sense - unless of course it's only about money - which it is.
If I were in the Big 10 or 12, I would be pushing that a conference can only have 1 team in the playoff. This makes the playoff more meaningful because so much more of the country is represented within the playoff itself. It also helps combat the idea that the SEC is so much better than other conferences, when in fact they rarely play teams from other conferences under neutral conditions to prove that on the field. I think a rule like this would also help push the system to go to 8 or 16 games much quicker.
