I have a different perspective of game day experiences at LES then
many others on this board. I grew up in rural Kansas and given the distance from collegiate institutions and limited resources I never had an opportunity to attend a Division I or FBS athletic event. After my mission I moved to Utah to attend BYU and a friend in the ward had an extra ticket to the BYU v. Notre Dame season opener. The student ticket placed us directly behind the ND bench at the 20 yard line. It was awesome! I enjoyed everything about the experience. I didn't think about the advertisements, or the distance to the bathroom, or the amount of leg space (I spent the whole game standing). I went to watch football. I absorbed myself in the game and not the distractions. BYU held off a ND late push and won the game.

Subsequently I attended home games whenever I could. I even took my young daughter, and she cheered better than most of the social females who were in attendance just to get out with a guy. The family had a great time, and we never went home thinking, "Maybe we should have just watched this one on the couch." This includes the 2004 BYU v. USC game where I witnessed first hand Reggie Bush earn his pay in a 42-10 beat down.

Now I live in Nebraska. I have attended Nebraska football games. I will say that the atmosphere in the Nebraska stadium is more exciting, and UNL has a sellout streak reaching back decades. However, I think that the difference in atmosphere is directly related to the investment of the fans in the actual game, more than the distance to bathrooms, amount of leg room, volume of the speakers, or types of advertisers. If you want a better game day experience try focusing more on the game.

As a final note, there is a strong contingent of BYU fans here in Nebraska and we have been making plans since the announcement to attend the game next year. I am glad that I can attend games that BYU plays more frequently. I wish they were in a conference with teams like Nebraska and Texas instead of begging for an opportunity to show they belong, but I am happy that I have an opportunity to attend more games now.
