What I hope we can adopt as the standard for all BYU fans everywhere
We turned a big corner some years ago with wearing blue to games and it was primarily driven by guys on this board who took the lead and made it happen. So let's test cougarboard a little. My personal expectation is that we sell out every BYU game the rest of the season. To do that, there needs to be a fundamental change in how everyone of us views attending games, wearing colors, etc.

Live games are important - I find this a fundamental truth that we seem to be getting away from in all of pro and college sports. TV rules and it is having its effect. It damages home field advantage, it damages recruiting, it damages connections to the program. So the game day experience isn't quite perfect yet. No excuse to stay home. Before I start I want to give a caveat. I understand that some situations in life are untenable for attending games - health, money, small children on late games, etc. But I would submit that there should be far fewer excuses to going to games than we have.

We have one of the best players to ever play football at BYU, a ranked team, a top 25 defense, a chance at an undefeated season. Every game should be a sell out.

So here are the rules I think every BYU fan should adopt.

1. Going to games is far superior than watching games on television. No question. This needs to be a fundamental shift in our philosophy.
2. If you live within 90 minutes of a game no matter where you are you should be making preparations to go to the game.
3. BYU fans need to wear blue in the week leading up to games they attend.
4. Talk about going to the game at work
5. Invite your lazy brother in law or neighbor to get to the game. Meet them at Bam Bam's, Apollo Burger, Brick Oven or tailgate with them. Make it an event. If you haven't invited someone to go to the game or encouraged them with an email detailing the cheaper tickets, you failed this week.
6. We need to not be offended if someone sitting next to us got a better deal on their seats than we did. This is an investment in the program. The price you bought your seats at was far when you bought them. The point is to sell out the games. Not to worry about what the guy behind us paid for his seat.
7. Every family should have it on their schedule that going to the game is more important than any other activity outside of a funeral and wedding of a close and direct family member. Nothing else stands in the way of attending the game.
8. It should be a weekly priority with the family that yard work, chores, errands are done in advance of the game. The entire week should be planned around the family time that comes from game time.
9. Post pictures of the game on facebook, instagram, twitter, etc. Let everyone know you were at the game and show them how sweet it is to be there.
10. We need to live the fanhood better for BYU - wear blue, go to games, talk it up.

Some of the best times I ever had with my family were at BYU football games growing up. When was the last time you had that experience with your kids? Forget ESPN. Go to the game. I promise you it is better.
