When BYU goes undefeated this year there is a 25% that they get in the playoffs
Jarom (the dark haired one) on Cougar Sportsnation radio/tv show last night kept saying that there is 0 chance that BYU gets in the playoff because everyone else would have to have 2 losses. Not sure if anyone on CB has called him on that but its totally false. That was the case in 1984 to won our 1st NC, but the path is much easier this time around.

The semi-unlikely (but very possible) path is:
1) BYU goes undefeated w/o too many unimpressive winning margins (1-2 more "close" games are fine).
2) Alabama or someone like that smears everyone in the SEC and the other guys beat up on each other so that there is 1 undefeated team in the SEC and a lot of guys with +2-3 loss teams.
3) Oregon steamrolls the PAC10.2 and everyone else has +2 losses.
4) FSU continues to win and dominate a weak ACC conference.
5) The Big10 is terrible this year. The only 2 teams that if they win out would jump us are MSU and maybe OSU. To be safe every team would need 2 losses (they all already have 1 except PSU).
6) ND losses 2 games. They always have a tough schedule and 9 out of 10 years lose +2 games. Purdue gave them a tough game so this should be fine.
7) The big boys in the Big 12 need 2 losses each and Texas needs to show up. A 2 loss Oklahoma or Baylor may still get in ahead of us, but it would be very close. That's when our style points matter.
8) No other G5 school has a chance of passing BYU so the other 70 schools are out already. ECU already has a loss, CFU will have 3 losses after BYU drubs them, etc.

Although the likelihood of all the above happening is relatively small, as fans it is our duty to hold out hope that it does. And if we do get bypassed by a 10-2 Oklahoma team, pool our money together to file a frivolous lawsuit against the NCAA.
