I feel like I'm the only person who pays attention to Bronco's interviews.
Bronco has said on multiple occasions that he intentionally instructs the kickers not to go for touchbacks. He has coached the kickers to kick it just deep enough for the return man to take the ball out. He coaches them to keep it between the sideline and the left hash mark. There's a reason almost every single kickoff is towards the left side of the field. This way the kickoff defensive unit can practice where to be and what to do because of the consistency. Bronco has stated clearly that his main objective is to tackle the returner before the 25 yard line and force longer drives.

Currently the opposing teams starting drives average on the 22yard line. So only an average difference of 3 yards. But his philosophy is working, plus we recovered a fumble in the Texas game. He sees it as an opportunity to cause another turnover at the risk of having someone take a kickoff back to the house. In the Texas game is philosophy was particularly effective.
