When I didn't receive my diploma in the mail a few weeks later, I went online and checked my status, it said I hadn't graduated. I was ticked, because I had been applying for jobs. Who knows how many companies might have tried to verify my education and were told I hadn't graduated. After a phone call to the advisement office of the college I graduated in, it was straightened out and my degree was posted.

Different than what happened in this story, but there are definitely screw-ups that happen.
