Is there a list somewhere of all the words that cause offense these days?
It's got to be a pretty impressive tome to cover all of the bases that have been staked out as off-limits.

I'm no fan of Joe Biden, but ripping on him for using the term "Orient" to refer to Asia (in an intended compliment, no less, to former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew as "the wisest man in the Orient") because "The terms 'orient' and 'oriental' are considered widely [sic] outdated and offensive to Asians"??? I guess it only shows how insensitive I must truly be.

Joe Biden Refers to Asia as the ‘Orient’

"Oriental," as an adjective to describe people of Asian origin, I get (sort of) . . . but "the Orient"? Oh the humanity! (And I also sort of get the "outrage"--it's always that these days it seems--over his use of "Shylocks" to refer to bankers.)

Off to re-education camp for me!!!
