I'll admit my ignorance by what is unique to Africa that causes so many viruses to originate on that continent? Even the flu vaccine is based off of what flu bugs are floating around there that are anticipated to cause havoc in the rest of the world each year.

There are probably a lot of other viruses that don't actually originate there, so maybe it's just my perception.
