Not sure that beating Virginia, at home, when favored is a statement game.
A redemption game, yes. But not really a statement game. Reminder that Virginia went 0-8 in the ACC last year. So if we beat them, the ACC shouldn't be too impressed.

If we were to beat a top tier SEC/ACC team during an up year for that team then I think the result sends more of a message.

Beating up on the P5 bottom feeders like the Virginias, Iowa States, Indianas, Vanderbilts, etc. won't hurt our chances of getting into the P5, but I don't really see how that helps too much either.

Hopefully we are paired with a decent P5 opponent in the bowl game this year and can take advantage of that opportunity to make a statement (like TCU's 2011 Rose Bowl win over Wisconsin).
