You know why the fans did that, right?
Everyone was hoping for a Fiesta Bowl bid. When the BCS released BYU from consideration -- prior to the loss at Hawaii -- there were a lot of students calling for a boycott of Tostitos and Frito-Lay products. A similar sentiment was shared when the Bowl Alliance snubbed BYU in 1996. Thankfully that season ended better than 2001.
