CFP is the reason. The P5 conferences want to have the corner on the market
when it comes to scheduling.
When non-P5's are excluded from their system they will have their preconceived built in argument that SOS is too low.
That's why the nonsensical argument about who counts as a P5 in the first place. The first line of emphasis will be the # of P5's on one's schedule. P5 teams being in a P5 conference will always have the highest number.
