BYU Opponent Week 4 Recap (updated)
UCONN at USF: The Huskies opened up AAC play at USF with a loss on Friday night. Connecticut tried to win the game by keeping the ball on the ground, rushing 27 times for 44 yards and QB Chandler Whitmer only attempted 9 passes while completing 6 for 88 yards and 1 TD. Aside from the scoreboard, USF dominated in all facets of the game holding UCONN 0/9 on 3rd downs, and outgaining them 271:132 while keeping the ball for 39:02.

Texas had a week 4 bye and will open Big 12 play against Kansas next Saturday.

UNLV at Houston: Houston bounced back from last week's disappointing loss at BYU with a 47-14 blowout win over UNLV. John O'Korn reverted back to his mediocre 2014 performance completing 12/27 passes for 2 TD's and 2 INT's for 135 yards but rushes for 27 yards and 1 TD. Houston rushed 52 times for 399 yards after only gaining 10 yards on the ground against BYU in week 3. Standout performers for the Cougars were: Ryan Jackson 13 rushes 147 yards, Kenneth Farrow 14 rushes 113 yards 1 TD, Javid Webb 10 rushes for 54 yards 1 TD, and Daniel Spencer 3 rushes 37 yards 1 TD. UNLV QB Blake Decker completed 12/28 passes for 113 yards and 2 INT's, backup Nick Sherry came in and threw for 33 yards on 4/11 passing and 1 INT.

Virginia at #21 BYU: After an emotional home victory over Louisville, Virginia made a rare trip west of the Mississippi to play in Provo eventually losing 41-33 After leading the first half 16-13, the Cavaliers had a hard time containing Taysom Hill in the 3rd. BYU scored 14 points in both the 3rd and 4th Q off of rushing TD's from Jamaal Williams and Taysom Hill, as well as a passing TD from Hill to Mitchell Juergen's and a rare, 99-yard kickoff return for a TD without a flag being thrown. Starting QB Greyson Lambert was 21/35 for 188 yards and 1 INT and also fumbled while trying to convert on 4th down. Backup Matt Johns came in after Lambert injured his right ankle and was 14/23 for 139 yards and 1 TD. Khalek Shepherd carried the ball 14 times for 73 yards and 1 TD and Greyson Lambert also had 1 TD on the ground to go along with 5 carries for 49 yards. Virginia's leading receiver was Miles Gooch who had 6 catches for 65 yards and kicker Ian Frye was 4/4 on FG's with a long of 46, scoring 15 of the Cavalier's 33 points.

Utah State at Arkansas State: The Chuckie-less Aggies visited the Red Wolves and suffered a disappointing 21-14 overtime loss. USU struck early on an 81 yard pass from Darrell Garretson to Hunter Sharp on the first play from scrimmage. USU was held to 6/20 on third downs and 19 first downs, but outgained the Red Wolves 413-316. Garretson was 27/46 for 268 yards for 2 TD's and 1 INT. Rashad Hall had 10 carries for 56 yards and Hunter Sharp had 9 catches for 130 yards and 1 TD while Ronald Butler had 5 catches for 80 yards and 1 TD. The Aggies had two chances to go ahead but Nate Thompson and Nick Diaz missed FG's of 29 and one of 17 yards with :47 left which sent the Aggies to overtime.

Bethune-Cookman at UCF: UCF handily won their first game of the season 41-7 in their home opener. QB Justin Holman was 6/11 for 145 yards and 2 TD's and backup Nick Patti was 2/2 for 37 yards. William Stanback rushed 15 times for 104 yards and 2 TD's receivers Breshad Perriman had 3 catches for 98 yards and 1 TD and JJ Worton had 1 catch for 35 yards and 1 TD in the victory.

Nevada had a week 4 bye and will open MWC against SJSU next Saturday.

LA-Lafayette at Boise State: Boise State was winning 24-3 at the time this post was written. Grant Hedrick was a superb 21/24 for 219 yards. Star RB had 22 carries for 137 yards and 3 TD's. Leading receiver so far was Matt Miller who had 5 catches for 107 yards

MTSU at Memphis: MTSU lost 17-36 to the Tigers, QB Austin Grammar was 24/35 for 237 yards and 1 INT Reggie Whatley led in yard and carries rushing 8 times for 41 yards and Shane Tucker carried the ball 7 times for 23 yards and 2 TD's. Demetrius Frazier led in receptions catching the ball 7 times for 96 yards. MTSU lost the turnover battle 3:1 fumbling the ball twice and throwing an interception.

UNLV at Houston: UNLV lost by giving up more than 40 points for the third time this season. UNLV QB Blake Decker completed 12/28 passes for 113 yards and 2 INT's, backup Nick Sherry came in and threw for 33 yards on 4/11 passing and 1 INT. Keith Whitely had 14 carries for 82 yards and 1 TD and George Nuafahu added 1 TD on the ground along with his 8 carries for 31 yards. Leading receiver was Kendal Keys who had 5 catches for 42 yards. UNLV was outgained 316-534

Savannah State had a week 4 bye and begin MEAC play vs Delaware State next week

Cal at Arizona: Cal loses a heartbreaker 45-49 on a hail mary pass to end the game. Cal had outgained Arizona 507-390 early in the 4th Q but ended up being outgained 573-627. Jared Goff was 18/230 for 380 yards for 3 TD's and 1 INT running backs Daniel Lasco and Khalfani Muhammad had 20 carries for 123 yards and 1 TD and 11 for 95 yards and 2 TD's, respectively. Leading receiver was Bryce Treggs who had 5 catches for 199 yards and 1 TD, Chris Harper added 2 catches for 71 yards and 1 TD and Stephen Anderson also had 1 TD on 2 catches for 43 yards. Goff completed passes to 9 different receivers. The defense picked off 2 passes to match the offenses 2 turnovers; 1 fumble and 1 INT.
