Dear BYU Athletic Dept: Please do not blow Jimmy Mac's retirement ceremony!
Retiring Jim McMahon's number and recognizing arguably the greatest player to wear a Cougar uniform deserves respect and honor. This is a BIG deal on a local level and to some degree a national level. The halftime ceremony should be dedicated to Jim McMahon ONLY!

With all due respect to Kelly Parkinson, Dmitri Malinouski, Tara Northcutt, and Aleisa Cramer Rose, this night belongs to Jim and his family. These folks can be honored at a future game and we can all watch their highlights and give them a nice ovation. I do not want to sit through halftime listening to the swimming or soccer exploits of one of these folks knowing that I could spend the entire half just watching Jim point to the scoreboard after destroying Utah or winning the SMU game.

I understand BYU's marketing efforts leave a lot to be desired, but here is one Jim McMahon fan that is hoping that the Athletic Department gets this right. Having known Jim's father and family back in the day, I know they would certainly appreciate the night belonging to Jim. It is the the little things that mean a lot to people and BYU has a chance to really do this right.
