Do you think that the Heisman voters will pay more attention to the "off-field" issues this year than in the past few years?
The Heisman trust language has words like "integrity" and "community service" in the charter, along with "excellence".
Years ago, after the whole OJ Simpson trial, there was talk about the Heisman committee not wanting to be embarrassed again.
Then we had the whole Reggie Bush mess, (didn't USC return the trophy or something?) and more embarrassment.
Now you have "Johnny Football" and "Manzel-Desease" and alot of embarrassment, and a little bit of buyers remorse, and Jameis Winston and I think alot of buyer's remorse.
Add to that the turmoil in the NFL and the extra scrutiny that NFL is being forced to put on "personal conduct".
I'm wondering if this year the Heisman Committee might be EXTRA careful about their selection, and put alot more emphasis on "personal conduct" in the selection process.
Can you imagine the amount of noise lots of groups and reporters would make if this year's winner has any kind of "mistreatment of women" issues in his background, or other "personal conduct" questions?
