Here is the long term attendance problem
if you want to call upper 50 thousand a problem. Many schools would kill to get that attendance.

However, for those that see it as a problem I will pat myself on the back and let you know I called it. I got the typical response from some of the "true blue" crowd like go away, we don't need you. Now these same folks are whining about the attendance.

Here is the problem, prices are going up but the product on the field with an exception here and there has gone down. That will change when we get into a P5 conference. It may not change immediately though. It could take some time to build back up the "patrons".

There are a number of people who spent a lot of money on BYU football tickets. They have now watched games at home and found watching on TV isn't so bad. It isn't like going to LES is a happening. Do they still sing pop corn popping and does the band still have the same uni's they had in the 80's. Do they still keep the sound down so as to not offend neighbors and the very old and very conservative?

Back to TV at home. It is a 3 hour event out of the day instead of 6-8. You can even do something else if the time is inconvenient and DVR it, I think that is what they call it. So besides having advantages of watching TV, you also have $2,400 you can spend on something else.

P5 scheduling may bring those folks back, but not if they get comfortable with the TV thing.

Lastly, like I said in the beginning upper 50 thousand fans isn't that bad at all. Plenty of rabid fans who still love the LES atmoshpere and the chance to sing pop corn poppin.
