Even if he threw well on the run, which he doesn't, it's a bad idea.
The reason you stay in the pocket is so you can see the field better. You roll to one side and you basically take all the receivers on the other side out of the equation. If you want to have success passing, your QB needs to stay in the pocket and see the entire field.
