I think part of the stadium reaction to the poor officiating was due to the heat. It seems those who watched on TV did not have as strong a reaction toward the officials.
Those of us in the stands, were already irritable due to the nearly unbearable heat... so when the refs start calling things in a way that appeared to many of us as "crooked"... it was just adding fuel to the already burning fire of annoyance... That same game on a cooler day, while you still have some adverse reaction to the Pro-ACC officiating, the reaction would not be as strong or universal. Everyone was already a bit on edge... and the seemingly biased officiating just pushed everyone over....
