Also, home game expectations have changed since independence
Before, BYU fans were fine with a bunch of MWC teams at home and Utah to finish every other year.
But, the bar has risen and expectations have become somewhat unrealistic since independence. MWC home schedules aren't enough anymore.
Many fans criticized the 2014 home schedule in the offseason. "Houston and Virginia? Are you kidding me?" was the common theme. These unrealistic expectations require Texas, Nebraska, and USC at home to be met.
I, however, agree with Troy Hinds: It's the team that matters most - not who the team plays.
