For those who think refs can be biased toward the league they normally work:

What would the motivation for such bias be?

I'm one who thinks that while bad refereeing does in fact occur, its usually just people making bad human judgments. Its hard for me to imagine a crew or even many individual officials actually wanting a particular outcome and trying to affect the game (absent a Tim Donaghy situation).
