If a D lineman gets to the QB in a 3-4, then it's icing on the cake
D linemen in a 3-4 are supposed to take up 1-2 offensive blockers, freeing up the LBs to make plays.
Or at least that's what I was told when I played D line, but maybe I was told that just to make me feel better because I didn't have too many tackles.
