I was already married, so I didn't attend, but there was, in fact, a social event for electrical engineering students and elementary ed students once in the early 90s.

Word was that while there were plenty of EE guys there, it was very poorly attended by the EE girls (I don't remember if there were no girls or if there were only a few).

The student engineering council (I don't even remember what that was called anymore) gave up on the idea after that and just stuck to engineer-only pizza parties.
