What did Dick Vitale see last year to put Utah in his top 40?

I know last year they beat us but then had a very mediocre year losing in the first round of the NIT to Saint Mary's. Are they really supposed to be one of the top teams in the Pac-12? Is Vitale showing signs of dementia?
