as much as I respect hard workers, down time is important to me. It allows free
play and the development of imagination, it allows family bonding, it allows relaxing and recharging, it allows pursuing hobbies and other interests that contribute to a well-rounded individual. I just feel like there's so much more to life than worksheets and chalkboards. I'm sure we'll get in a better groove with her homework (this is our first year of daily homework), but I hate to see her struggle with the long school day and homework on top of it when last year she never complained about school (half-day) and practically begged to do her homework.
