4th and 2
Nevada has the ball. The defense has finally held them to a 4th and 2. And how does our defense line up? With Davis 10 yards off the line on their only receiver. IT'S 4TH AND 2. What good is it to be 10 yards off the ball? And this is after a time out. Nevada QB rolls to the right and throws an easy completion for 5 or 6 yards.

Contrast that with when BYU faced a 4th down and short. The crappy Nevada DBs (that struggled all game) are all on the line of scrimmage in our receiver's faces. They are able to force a poor throw and incomplete pass.

Our defensive scheme stinks. I know Nevada was in max-protect, and that was the same alignment that USU beat us deep with a double move. But are we that bad? Are we counting on the QB making a bad 2-yard throw? Or perhaps the receiver might run backwards? What is the mind-set? Anyone?

This is the same type of scheme that has allowed multiple 3rd and 4th down conversions this year against offenses that have been bad.
