football since before I was a BYU student (mid 90s). I'm finding myself not feeling all that upset about last Saturday's loss and the reason is that I just don't care that much. I ended up watching the game on TV, but I didn't spend any part of the day thinking about it and probably wouldn't have watched it at all if I had anything else remotely interesting to do at that time.
I'm not blaming anyone or complaining, and it also isn't a sudden thing. My "investment" has declined a little each of the last 5 seasons and I just happened to notice that it's currently at a new low. Even during the Crowton years, I think I cared a little more than I do now (I was younger then and had different priorities I guess). For that brief period between the Texas game and USU, I started to get really into it again because it seemed like something had changed. Bronco seemed happier and more "friendly" toward the fans, the team seemed like they had talent and chemistry, etc. There were PLENTY of warning signs that things weren't any different, but I tried to ignore them. I think the sudden fall from that high probably helped push this year's low below previous ones.
