I guess the writers think that if we can believe that Bob hasn't passed out due to blood loss or infection even though they just hacked off his leg at the thigh in a dirty forest with no medical equipment, and that Gareth is running around just fine even though he got shot in the shoulder the day before, we can go along with the notion that nobody's accidentally eaten any zombie yet.
