Big fish in a shrinking pond
I will be the first to admit I know too little about CFB to nominate someone. I would have never known who BM was if BYU hadn't hired him as head coach. I do know that the program is stuck in the mud and sinking fast.

I'm curious as to why the BM apologists are resorting to the "best of all possible worlds" defense. In a twisted way, you are defaming BYU by defending BM. "That's the best this school can do" is your attitude. You are relegating BYU to permanent mid-major status. I have even seen posts by CBers calling LE's successes "a fluke".

If that is your attitude, then BYU needs to drop this façade of being a national program. Indy is a high stakes, high reward proposition and yet you want a low risk, low reward coach. You want a program where 8-5 records against AAC and MWC teams are the norm, and a trip to the Kraft Hunger Bowl and Miami Beach Bowl are the best you get.

Indy is pleasing no one at this point, and BYU is not getting into a P5 conference if it cannot beat teams like Utah State, Nevada and UCF. BYU has lost to Utah State and Nevada TWICE in the last 5 years. BYU hasn't beaten TCU or Utah since 2009. BYU is on a 3-game losing streak to TCU (whom we won't see again soon unless BYU joins the Big 12) and a 4-game losing streak against Utah. These two teams were considered less than BYU 10 years ago and now are competing in P5 conferences with BCS bowl wins in their trophy cases.

TCU is a small Christian school in Ft. Worth. Baylor is a small Baptist school in Waco that bans dancing. Utah used to be a fun and easy win at the end of the season. Utah State was a gimme game for years. Why is BM unable to keep pace with these schools? Why has BYU slipped to being a peer with Nevada and SJSU while Utah and TCU have raced ahead?
