BC ended up not so good, but nobody would have called them a "Bo Diddley Tech"
those years -- they had the Heisman Trophy winner the year before, and had a generally strong program. Likewise Washington, which finished #2 behind BYU the year before. We crushed them something like 31-3, which felt great after their whining in 1984.

The loss to eventual Pac-10 and Rose Bowl champion UCLA was on a very late come-from-behind drive with a long bomb that pulled it out for the Bruins. I was there and remember it painfully well.

The Ohio St game was also very close and could have gone either way.

There's more to it than records in assessing quality wins or quality opponents or the strength of a given team. And in any case, we weren't discussing quality wins. We were discussing Bo Diddley Tech schedules.
