He's definitely earned that. I think Bronco has been solid, the problem is BYU is becoming perennially boring and their seasons are becoming so routine, predictable and stale. Come late September/Early October a good portion of the fans are almost completely checked out.
The schedule and stage were set for Bronco to lead the team to a much needed "special" season and just like the previous 4 seasons he showed all of us that for one reason or another he just can't manage to keep the team focused and orchestrated in a way to have those much needed occasional "special" seasons.
I'm not calling for him or any BYU coach to be fired, but I do believe the AD should not extend the contract or even come to terms before the contract ends for a resignation. Bronco deserves to go out with class and integrity, but the program (which is above Bronco) deserves more than what he's been able to provide in the last 5 seasons as well.
Mediocrity is becoming the norm for BYU football. That's ok if you're also ok with mediocre ticket sales, mediocre fan apparel sales and mediocre travel and support of the program. Just showing up is not enough for fans to sacrifice their time, money and travel and you're arrogant to think that in case you do.
