This may be a lame excuse but I personally think one thing
That influences our lack of players in the NFL is missions.

Hear me out for a second. How many guys can you remember who came back and played well right away after a mission? How many guys can you remember who came back and didn't seem to have the same desire for football they had before they served.

Anyone that has served a mission will agree, that there is nothing about missionary service that would motivate you more to pursue a career in the NFL. Maybe for a few, but most would look at life differently and maybe have problems with the lifestyle of the NFL, Sunday play, or other stuff.

Let's face it, it is possible to be in the NFL and be a good Mormon but it's not easy. I think a lot of missionaries come to this realization and their desire to have a family and be successful increase and the desire to play pro football diminishes.

It seems like most people come back from their missions more passive and docile than they were and neither of those things translate into being a better football player.

I'm not saying this is true of everyone and I might be overblowing this but I think it does have an effect on our players.
