I just don't see how this all ends without college football and basketball dying
I'm totally on board with O'Bannon and what student athletes have fought for, but the consequences of the court's decision along with the factors of college athletics lead me to believe that college football and basketball's days are numbered. Due to Title IX, universities will be forced to pay all student athletes the same, regardless of gender. Obviously this will get very expensive.

Looking into my 8-ball, I see another problem. If I'm a music major spending forty hours a week in rehearsal and practicing I'd be upset that the tennis players are getting paid and I'm not. IN my mind, I spend as much of my own time honing my skills as the tennis player. I am forced to perform for audiences without making any money. My extra-curricular activity probably generates as much money as the tennis team (nothing). This doesn't seem fair to me. I think it's only a matter of time before participants of non-sports extra-curricular activities get organized and start a movement to get their "fair share". Their movement will gain a lot of momentum because logic is on their side. I think at this point, college football and basketball teams will be forced to make a clean break from universities and will become semi-pro leagues.
