BYU's academic reputation to the world is far more important than whether or not the football team is ranked in the top 25.

Also, this goes contrary to the "vision" of BYU. The BoT wants the program to represent the Church and has given the athletics department a charge to develop young men and women into leaders.

I don't mind the high standards, because it's something that keeps my BYU degree valuable.
