RE: Are the jobs we are talking about all super high tech programming type?
If she doesn't want to code, tell her to look at the Information Systems degree at the Marriott school. It's a technical degree that is a little less programming intensive and focuses on other aspects of business such as marketing, accounting and project management as well. Placement rates are typically right around 100%. There's also have a 5 year integrated master's program which most students opt to do.

I'll echo what others have said, that while you're in school, the job opportunities in the tech field are pretty incredible. When I was in the program almost 10 years ago, most of the internships paid anywhere from $25-35/hour. Most of my friends in the program were able to graduate debt free. While I don't think the salaries are quite as high as what you might get with a CS degree. There's a lot more flexibility to find a non-coding job and with a Master's degree, there's a lot of management opportunities available within a few years of graduation.

As for careers, most of the people I graduated are security auditors, consultants, data architects, data analysts, project managers, or product managers. There's a lot of options.
