leap-frogging between those books, Peter Brett's The Warded Man, and Brandon Sanderson stuff. Thrones got too dark and slow. I was about 1/3 through Storm of Swords when I quit, so it's not like I didn't give it a good college try. There were some parts that were of course exceptional, but overall it was dragging on and I couldn't perceive a cohesive storyline anymore; it was all just immersion into the characters' lives without any sense of direction.
Dark Tower was different. I just finished book five out of seven, and I realized that I had no desire to finish the story. I just wanted to find out what happened to Roland when he made it to the tower, but I didn't want to read two books to get there. So I just read the plot synopsis of the two remaining books and I can't say that I regret it. Dark Tower was a weird read for me. I hated lots of it, felt intrigued by some of the books, bored to death by others, but never really engulfed in the story like I get with other books. It always kept me at a distance for some reason.
The Warded Man and the Brandon Sanderson stuff continues to entertain, however. I'll keep reading that.
