My least favorite type of BYU fan
The kids who were pretty good football players in high school, but were a long shot to play at BYU or any other DIV1 college. At some point during a camp or some random rendezvous with BYU coaches they were told they should try out for the team. They somehow take this to mean that they are going to be a preferred walk on or something and then are bummed when they get cut after the first day of tryouts. For some reason they can't find it in themselves to watch and root for the team that passed on them.

I have quite a few friends who fall into this category and they drive me insane. They attend BYU, go to the games, but never really become fans. For some reason they just can't ever root for BYU. Most of my friends weren't even close in reality to ever playing at BYU but they think they were. I have had many of them tell me in private at some point that this is the reason they won't ever be true BYU fans and still hold a grudge against the coaches and the program. The funny thing about it is the less qualified they were to play at BYU, the bigger grudge they hold.

In my experience, there are a lot of these types at BYU in both football and basketball and they need to get over themselves. They drive me nuts.
