Rebuild: He took over a disaster of a program, went 6 - 6 and lost in the Vegas bowl.

Success: From John Beck's senior year (2006) to Max Hall's Senior year (2009). Went undefeated in conference play twice, finished ranked in the top 25 four years in a row, beat Utah 3 out of 4 times, had 3 seasons with 11 wins and one season with 10 wins.

Slump (2010 to 2013): The post-Hall era has been a slump, at best. Four straight losses to Utah, only one season finished ranked (2011, #25), and generally wins over mediocre programs with losses to better programs. Not a lot to cheer about.

Disappointment?: If I had to make a 4th era, so far, it would start in 2013 and continue till today. The Heaps/Nelson and even Doman debacles were unfortunate. Once those passed, I thought we would turn things around. Thus far, we really haven't.

2013, with Anae's return and Taysom as QB should have been the start of the end of the slump. It sputtered, they lost to Virginai, Utah, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Washington. While still a "Slump" year, the losses were generally explanable and you could sense some momentum building. The defense was great, and the offense was improving.

2014 began as we thought it would, with the exception being that the defense was mediocre, even when winning. But, given the schedule and the prowess of Taysom, Jamaal and others, it looked like BYU would manage a good-to-great season. 10 wins looked like a miminum, undefeated looked like a real possibility. Injuries changed that a great deal, but the team probably was never as good as we hoped.

What do I take from all this? I dunno. I am more of a Bronco supporter than a Bronco detractor. I think he is a great coach, and he has to be supported over at least the next two years. If this team runs the table and wins 10 games or more next year, I think that would be a resounding success.

Maybe I just needed to put this down on paper to help myself consider Bronco's efforts and results.
