Even with the injuries, this was the most manageable schedule we've had under BM
There is no excuse for experimenting with the DC in this season. If Bronco hangs on one more season, we run the table this year and Howell gets that much more experience. How long has Howell been on staff anyway? Four years as a full-time coach and seven total? He had never proven himself as competent high school coach and certainly not as a special teams coach. He was never competent at any level of coaching. The special teams was worse with NH coaching them. He was the outside linebackers coach on that horrid defense that saw Hill get fired and dramatically improved only when Bronco took the reins again. The stars were aligned for a special season and BM experimented because he loves walk-on players and he seems to love "walk-on coaches" and it cost us the perfect season he has always talked about. He is so concerned with finding that diamond in the rough that he failed to see that the diamond in the rough is such because they are anomalies.

Derik Stevenson made vaild points, some of those were diminished in peoples' eyes because of the source, but DS made some very valid points and used "facts" to back it up. Brady Poppinga's personal attack on DS was unwarranted. If he wants to contend that DS is off his rocker then fine, use facts to debate. Poppinga only used his own opinion to attack DS and then asserts he must be on something. This is a classic case of the pot calling the kettle black.

I thought Poppinga's best observation was that Bronco should never had relinquished the play calling duties. I think we all think this. Bronco should have, under no circumstances, given NH the playcalling duties. This is not so much NH's fault, as some of you have adroitly pointed to the Peter Principle, as it is that if Bronco was guilty over "over assessing the abilities of the defense", he was equally guilty of over-assessing the abilities of NH. This defense has more athletes and talent than some of the players earlier in Bronco's career, but as much as we complained as Kayle Buchanan and Kellen Fowler, they were coached well, and were in good position, they were just not athletic enough. This team is athletic enough, but constantly finds itself in bad position, over-pursuing, and making stupid, stupid mental mistakes over and over again. This is all on Bronco.

Bronco does not need to be fired, but NH's incompetence has cost us the NY6, just like Hill's incompetence cost us a BCS bowl in 2009.
