one of the things I noticed with Michael Davis last week seemed weird
obviously it bugs a lot of fans when our cornerbacks line up 10 or more yards off of the ball. What was weird to me however was with Michael Davis, he would often stand fairly straight up rather than getting down in a traditional corner back stance. Then the receiver would run to him and Davis wouldn't crouch down or make any move forward or back until the guy got to him. So it was a lot different than what I was taught in high school. I have usually heard to be in a crouch and not standing tall so that you could move any direction fairly quickly.

So last week it just seemed to me that Davis had problems with that initial move when the receiver would get close to him and make a cut and Davis was still standing straight up waiting for the receiver to get to him were the receiver would make a move and go deep and would get by Davis. Luckily he has very very good speed and often caught up but it just seemed like he could gain an extra step or so if he was ready when the receiver reached him and was able to make it defensive move instead of standing straight up then having to go into a crouch 2 make a move and follow the receiver. Did anybody notice this?
