I went to diet at first for about 6 months which helped me get to half of my goal, and then to finish off I had to give up soda completely.
The biggest thing I found helps is to exercise in the morning to get my body burning calories all day, and eat a healthy but filling breakfast with lots of protein, (i.e. eggs). If you don't eat a good breakfast or eat something with no nutritional value then you will be hungry all day and craving sugar.
